Pre-Kindergarten · Ages 4 – 5

Built for the year
that changes everything.

Kindergarten teachers can tell within the first week which children came in prepared. Our Pre-K program is designed specifically around that — what children need to know, how to behave in a classroom, and how to handle the social and emotional demands of a full school day.

We don't just keep kids busy until they're old enough for kindergarten. We actively prepare them for it — and the results show.

Ages 4 – 5 years

Pre-Kindergarten

  • Kindergarten readiness assessment included
  • Advanced literacy and math concepts
  • STEAM-based curriculum framework
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Social-emotional learning focus
  • Partnerships with local K–5 programs
  • Full-day structure mirrors kindergarten

What We Actually Teach

Kindergarten readiness
is what we're built for.

Every element of our Pre-K classroom is mapped to what kindergarten teachers expect on the first day. Here's what your child will walk in ready to do.

Reading & Writing Foundations

Children leave Pre-K recognizing letters, writing their name, and building phonemic awareness — the building blocks kindergarten teachers expect on day one.

Math & Number Sense

Counting, patterns, shapes, and early addition concepts are woven into daily activities so math feels natural, not intimidating.

Classroom Behavior & Routines

Sitting for circle time, taking turns, following multi-step directions — the social skills that make the difference between a child who struggles and one who thrives.

Emotional Regulation

We actively teach children how to name feelings, manage frustration, and resolve conflicts — because emotional readiness is just as important as academic readiness.

Critical Thinking

Problem-solving, asking questions, and thinking through challenges are practiced daily through project-based learning and STEAM activities.

Kindergarten Readiness Assessment

Before your child finishes Pre-K, we complete a formal readiness assessment and share it with you — so you know exactly where they stand heading into kindergarten.

What Your Child Gets Every Day

A Pre-K that takes
the next step seriously.

Chef-prepared meals daily

Hot breakfast, lunch, and two snacks every day. Nothing to pack.

STEAM curriculum

Research-backed lesson plans built around science, technology, engineering, arts, and math — built into daily learning, not a once-a-week add-on.

Secure building, 4K cameras

Keypad-only front entry. Every classroom monitored so your child is always in a safe, visible environment.

Daily app updates

Real-time photos, activity logs, and notes throughout the day. You stay in the loop without having to call.

Long-term, trusted staff

We hire educators who stay. Consistent faces mean children build real relationships, not just familiarity.

Kindergarten-ready track record

Our Pre-K families consistently report that children are prepared socially and academically before their first day of K.

What Families Say

Real feedback from real families

★★★★★

My girl is already prepared for Kindergarten thanks in large part to Bright Skies and she can't start school until next year! The staff is honest and genuinely cares about their kiddos.

Molly S. · Belton, MO · Google Review

★★★★★

My child had been attending Bright Skies since the day they opened. The curriculum they teach is outstanding. My son has grown so much in just the few months in the preschool class.

Jen · Topeka, KS · Google Review

★★★★★

Cannot think of a negative thing to say since making the choice to change daycare providers. Her attitude, potty-training, and behavior were all changed in the absolute best ways possible.

Jenni B. · Topeka, KS · Google Review

★★★★★

We could not have had a better experience. You are truly a member of the family when you join. Their daily activities and constant updates made us feel like we were still part of our child's day.

Questions

What families ask first

How does the first week free work?

Once enrollment is complete, your child's first full week of tuition is waived automatically — no code needed, no reimbursement process. It's removed directly from your first invoice. This offer applies to enrollments completed by July 31, 2025.

Is there still an enrollment deposit?

Yes. A $200 deposit is required to hold your child's spot. The deposit is refundable if you provide 30 days' written notice before leaving care. Deposits are non-refundable without proper notice.

How do I know if a spot is still available?

Fill out the form below and the director will confirm availability for your preferred location and start date during your call. Spots are assigned in the order enrollment is finalized.

Does my child need to be toilet trained?

Yes — toilet training is required for both the Preschool and Pre-K classrooms. Children must be independently using the restroom before their first day. If your child is still in the process, our Toddler classroom may be a better fit. Mention it in the form and the director will help you figure out the right next step.

What ages are covered?

This promotion is for our Pre-K classroom — children ages 4 – 5, at both Belton and Topeka. If your child is 3, ask the director about our Preschool classroom during your call.

What are your hours?

Both locations are open Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 6:00 pm, with a 10-hour daily maximum per child. Meals are included — hot breakfast, lunch, and two snacks daily. Nothing to pack.

Is there a trial before we commit?

Yes — and we think it's one of the best parts of our process. Before enrollment is finalized, we schedule a free 1-hour Discovery Day so your child can experience the classroom, meet the teachers, and get a feel for the environment. It's a no-pressure visit designed to make sure everyone feels confident it's a great fit. Most families leave that day ready to enroll.
